Congratulations, Mr. President – I need for you to know….

Allow me to congratulate you on your victory of the 8th of August 2017.

The journey has been perilous, many are the plans we made; composing songs, chants like #tibim #tialala and mindless slogans that fired up the resilience we had in the hope of a nation that would know what it is to finally have a legitimate Presidency.

Critics and pundits had predicted this day as memorable and historic. Though a few doubting Thomases had been heard saying it was shrouded in mystery, I need for you to know that we took little regard for they would soon eat humble pie. We have to ‘revisit’ that and guard our country against the outpouring of reckless eloquence.

I need for you to know that we had utmost faith in your inevitable swearing-in amidst a battery of opposition moreover we let out the young patriots, the idols of our hearts to go forth during the teargas Mondays. We should now focus on reviving our economic structures lest we fall off the fiscal cliff.

They fear you because you are the future. The torture, the beatings, the killings are proof. I need you to know that we can now rest easy knowing that you made it to the Perilous Seat. I need for you to know that we should now work hand in hand with the generals to get our nation’s name from the tabloid trash. We need to save our international face, sir.

I need for you to know that we should not withdraw our battalions from the battlefront. The resistance heroes should be submerged in seas of glory, adored and cherished for their patriotic work. Now that you are the “C in C,” might I suggest that they are bestowed upon the OGW or the HSC?

The judiciary needs to be checked, mate. After we offered them cyclones of applause and to sweeten the deal, threw in the golden opportunity to redeem themselves, they showed us a cold shoulder! I need for you to appoint our emeritus, solicitor and general in arms  Mguna Miguna, as Chief Chastise – I trust his chastisements.

The Law Is Clear, Your Excellency, we are not of a cowering nature either. We understand what treasonable acts call for – have we not heard from the Senior Counsel himself? Thou shalt not rule on an issue already decided by another court - the court of public opinion where the sovereign directly exercise their power. They call it Res Judicata.

We the comrades in arms, promise to let freedom ring!

  6. This is really captivating! It's a wonderful, descriptive, motivating, appealing piece of writing. Absolutely thrilling to read. That said, the issues of nation building and fiscal responsibility are critical. Judicial prudence and financial accountability go a long way in stabilizing any country. I like the fact that despite the applause at the spectacular space of democracy, you have stayed true to these vital principles of governance. Good work monsieur !
