KENe Redefining Youth Empowerment, Regional Tourism

Nothing would be a more fitting tribute to an organization like KENe (Kokelo Empowerment for the Needy) than a well documented recognition for the blessing the organization has become to the youth of Migori County and its environs.

In fact the most important contributions towards the youth empowerment within the region, which is their core agenda, has been the enablement of the youth to support one another and to claim and discover their personal potential through job creation and confidence building programs.

KENe among other productive youth-oriented initiatives provides volunteer opportunities for the youth who have helping hands and would like to find something worth their time to do while free. Seeing as to it that volunteering is such a noble way to serve, KENe inculcates the virtue of selflessness among our youth.

The programs run by KENe include the placement of trainees in healthcare provision. The trainees then have a chance at learning by apprenticeship how to save lives and provide ready aid to health workers, a move that has brought smiles to the faces of patients.

KENe realizes that empowerment can never be met fully without education. The organization has promoted education initiatives by advocating for education among the youth and thereby having the society knowledgeable.

Tourism is yet another pillar that KENe has strived very hard to tap into. Tourism, being one of the drivers of the County economy and the nation by extension, KENe continues to ensure that Tourist sites within the Western region are marketed both locally and internationally. With the promotion of tourism through protection and favorable marketing of tourist sites, KENe attracts world attention necessary for the appreciation of tourist sites and tourism in Kenya.

Through sustained, collective and collaborative effort KENe continues to work with the society and community through other developmental initiatives that promote economic power to the community.
More stories of KENe’s successes speak volumes as the organization continues involving the communities in a bid to improve the quality of life and maximize their potential.

In turn, the youth and teenagers of Migori County have shown tremendous success and a shift from job seeking mischief-making youth to a culture of personal responsibility and commitment. With such successes, KENe stands to become the hope for any progressive society.

KENe is deliberately making waves in the way things are done within the Western Circuit region in Kenya and have the prospects of transcending the borders into neighboring nations within the East African Region.

It would, undoubtedly be a truly ambitious undertaking and one that I believe would be worth every effort if KENe would receive the support of policy makers and political leadership for the benefit of the society.
